Can
You Help Us to Build New Homes for Poor Families in Haiti?
On October 23rd this year 300 Irish volunteers
will travel to Haiti to take part in the third “Build-It-Week”
by Haven,
a charitable foundation set-up by Leslie
Buckley to try and improve the quality of life of impoverished
people in Haiti.
Trish
and I have volunteered on the project again this year and
will spend 7 days working on the building site near the city
of Goniaves. We’ll be building on our knowledge of mixing
cement & plastering walls from last year J |
| mortar, lay blocks, plaster and
to hard-wall. |
 |
Each volunteer is asked to raise 4K towards the
costs of the project, which aims to build new homes for families
living in tents, shacks and slums in one of the poorest countries
in the world.
So where better to start than by gathering the supplies we need
to build the houses? The idea is simple - if you
can sponsor a brick,
a slate or a bag
of cement for just Euro 5, you can help us raise the funds to
build a Haiti house!
Or why not sponsor the house
materials on behalf of a loved one – for a birthday, confirmation
or for Father’s day for example? Give us their details and
we’ll send them a thank you card on your behalf!
So why not browse the Haiti
House shop and see the lovely building supplies we have waiting
for sponsors!
